The penthouse is located in the Monterey building within the Pirámide Plaza del Mar development, at Km 57 of the Carretera Libre Tijuana-Ensenada. This places it approximately 38 km (24 miles), or a scenic 25-minute drive, south of downtown Rosarito.

Can I drive my US car into Mexico?

Yes, you can absolutely drive your US car into Mexico. You will need to purchase Mexican auto insurance before your trip, as your US policy will not cover your vehicle in Mexico — check with AAA, or we can gladly recommend trusted online Mexican auto insurance providers. Driving here is very easy, as the coastal highway is in excellent condition.

Do I need a car?

To get to the condo and easily explore the area, you will need a car. Since the resort is located right on the highway between Rosarito and Ensenada, having a car is highly recommended. The property is not easily pedestrian-friendly, and there is no Uber service available in the area — local taxis require advance coordination and end up more expensive than a rental car. Having your own vehicle gives you the freedom to come and go as you please.

How far is it from the US border? Which crossing should I use?

San Ysidro is the faster option for most guests and is well-suited to first-time visitors; Otay Mesa can be a good alternative when San Ysidro has long wait times (check a live border-wait app before you leave). Southbound Arrival

After passing the San Ysidro inspection checkpoint, stay to the right to merge onto Tijuana's new elevated highway (Viaducto Elevado). This route entirely bypasses downtown traffic and takes you straight toward the coast.

When driving back to the US, ensure you enter the correct lane:
